I have been waiting for what seems like EVER to shoot a wedding at the gorgeous UBC Boathouse in Richmond. Thanks to the referral from a favourite past bride and owner of Jack & Jill Weddings, I finally had my chance at the end of July for Sean & Kiran’s wedding. I could have posted around 1000 photos, but I figured I would pick just a hundred or so to share
.
Enjoy!
The day began with the ladies getting their hair done at Blo Salon in South Surrey. They returned to Kiran & Sean’s house for samosas and to have their makeup done by Kiran’s former co-worker. I love, love, LOVE the photo of Kiran’s reflection in the mirror and window. Doesn’t she have amazing eyes?

Sean & Kiran had their ‘first look’ in front of their house. I love Sean’s reaction to his gorgeous bride-to-be.
We made a few casual portraits with Sean & Kiran and their family around their townhouse complex & playground. Notice the groom’s socks are colour coordinated with his suit, tie and fabulous pocket square?
After the photos at home, we headed down to Crescent Beach for some photos with the bridal party. They were chauffeured down to the beach by VanLimo Limousine Service. I am so loving the rich, vibrant colours I’m seeing in weddings this year. Jill & Maria’s bridesmaid dresses complemented each other perfectly.
Next stop, UBC Boathouse for cocktail hour and a wedding ceremony on the dock!
I thought their idea of a guest book was super cool. It was a book full of pictures of waves that had a lot of white space and places for people to sign. Love the photo of Kiran’s grandparents’ wedding day as well.
Cocktail hour before the wedding ceremony out on the waterfront.
The ceremony was performed by their good friend, Larissa. Sean is such an expressive groom – high fiving, low fiving & fist bumping his groomsmen as they met him at the altar and then showing his excitement during and after the ceremony. Kiran & Sean wrote their own vows to each other as well.
The newlyweds had a surprise for their wedding guests as they entered the reception. Being huge hockey fans – she being a Canucks fan and he Boston – they showed a hilarious video featuring Sean’s proposal and whether Kiran could marry a Bruins fan. As it ended, the bridal party entered the reception with the girls all wearing Canucks jerseys and the guys in Bruins jerseys. Shortly after their arrival, the newly svelte Mark Donnelly, aka Mr O’Canada, came and sang to the guests and posed for pictures afterwards.
We had such a gorgeous sunset that evening!
The coolest thing about Sean & Kiran is how close they are with their friends. They wanted their wedding to be just as much about their friends and the people they love as it was about them. I would say they were very successful in making that happen!
The happy groom chilling out on the deck with Elliot & Jordan from Hot Wax. They did an amazing job of getting people up on the dance floor and entertaining them with music videos playing alongside the dance floor.
Thanks so much for having me as a part of your day, Sean & Kiran. I hope you have a long and happy life together and that one day, Kiran, you can convert Sean to the Canucks side.
