The first wedding I shot was for my brother in-law and his wife back in 1993. I’m happy to report that they are still very happily married and I’m pretty sure it’s mostly due to their choice of a wedding photographer! After shooting for family and friends for the next few years, I left my full time job as a photo lab technician and dove head first into Audra’s Photography in 2002, specializing in weddings and family portraits.
Of course, the business of wedding and portrait photography is forever changing, so to keep up with what’s going on I continually attend workshops & seminars and spend a countless number of hours scouring books and photography sites. I am also a member of the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) and the PPA (Professional Photographers of America).
There are so many things I love about the wedding photography business. I love the emotions, the excitement and the anticipation of a wedding. The dresses. The details. I’m a sucker for the ’something olds’ that have been handed down for generations. I cry at Every. Single. Father-daughter dance. And mother-son dance. You’ll notice I keep my camera up to my face for pretty much the whole dance to hide my tears!
I love the challenge of photographing a shy 2 year old and making faces with a mischievous little 5 year old during a portrait session.
When you tell me you hate your ‘pose for the camera smile’, I love knowing that I will find your natural smile. I love knowing that you trust me to capture the best moments of your life.
On a personal level, I love to sit in coffee shops or on the beach and people watch. I enjoy seeing 80′s and 90′s rock bands at the Commodore Ballroom with my husband. I love playing ball with my kids and taking my dogs for long walks in the forest. I love Thursday nights because that’s when I snuggle up with my blanket on the couch and watch Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice with a bowl of popcorn. I play Words With Friends on facebook with my Dad almost every day. Sometimes I win, most times I lose.
I live in South Surrey/White Rock with my husband (high school sweethearts – awwwwww), 2 beautiful kids and two crazy dogs.
